Topics for written mid-term exam 1

These are the topics for written mid-term exam:

• History of IPA
• Phonetics and Phonology
• Homophones/homographs
• Minimal pairs. Counterparts
• Speech mechanism/Organs of speech
• Pronunciation of inflections
• Vowels (general characteristics)
• Formal description of all vowels
• Weak and strong forms (gradation)

Please remember that the whole group will be divided into two. The dates for the written exam are Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th.
Lists will be posted next week together with the dates for the oral exam.
