Topics for mid-term #1

1. The following topics will be included in your first written evaluation:

• IPA
• Brief history of the IPA
• Phonetics and Phonology
• Speech production
• Pronunciation of inflections
• Gradation
• General features of English vowels
• Formal description of long and short i; e; long and short o; long and short u; long a; the roof

   2. You´ll also have to transcribe a passage of approximately 125 words with a topmark of 25 mistakes.
