Topics for the 2nd mid term exam

• Formal description of all English pure vowels except ash and /e/

• General classification of English diphthongs

• Formal description of closing diphthongs.

Remember that for the formal description of a vowel or a diphthong you should include the articulation of the sound, spelling-to-sound rules, allophones and any other characteristics that are related to the sound you're describing.

You don´t need to use the IPA fonts unless you want to do so...

Those students who haven´t got their transcriptions back yet should ask their lab teachers for them, as all three sets are in the lab
The last set of transcriptions needs to be done only by those students who did not submit any of the first three sets or those students who failed to correct their work ("Missing corrections")
